Lanikai MA-P

The Lanikai MA-P is the third pineapple-shaped ukulele I have had the chance to try over the past few years. The body shape and size were almost identical on all three; the differences were in the materials and level of construction, as two were entry-level instruments and one was a premium model. This MA-P is an entry-level instrument and, in terms of sound and playing experience, it offers essentially the same as the Lanikai MA-S. I would add one thing, although it is somewhat subjective: I find a pineapple-shaped instrument a little harder to hold than a soprano. Of course, a strap can help with that, and the MA-P — like every Lanikai — comes from the factory with a strap button.

Like the other members of Lanikai's MA series, in person this one alsohas a beautiful colour. I think they got the finish exactly right, and this laminated-mahogany ukulele feels very pleasant in the hands. Here is a short demonstration video:
