Baton Rouge V2-T8 Sun
I am always happy when I get an unusual ukulele in my hands, and I definitely put eight-string ukuleles in that category because I get to try them relatively rarely. This one is made of laminated mahogany, and its appearance features the familiar Baton Rouge design elements, including the sunburst-style engraving around the sound hole, so visually it did not hold any major surprises. But those eight strings — now that is something! I own an eight-string ukulele myself, yet I still picked up this tenor with real excitement, and I was not disappointed. It has a strong, bright tone that sounds very different from a conventional four-string ukulele. One thing is certain: this sound will stand out in an ensemble and will not disappear even alongside the volume of a guitar.
Unfortunately, this model has no strap button and does not come with a case either. Even so, it is a very good instrument and offers excellent value for money. As you can see in the video, it has a slotted headstock, which reduces the weight of the head — and, of course, there would hardly be room for eight tuning machines otherwise. I changed the strings on my own four-string ukulele with a similar headstock a few days ago, and to put it mildly, it was time-consuming . Doing the same with eight strings... . Fortunately, ukulele strings do not need replacing terribly often — at least I do not change mine very frequently. In any case, there is simply no substitute for the sound of an eight-string ukulele.
