I had the chance to try a simple soprano ukulele from Baton Rouge. It is made from laminated mahogany, and one interesting detail is the dark decorative strip running around the headstock, although perhaps "binding" is not technically the correct name for it. In any case, I think the narrow dark line around the head is an attractive touch on an otherwise completely simple, no-frills instrument. There is no strap button, and the price does not include a case either. Because the instrument is new, it goes out of tune quickly, and you can hear that in the recording: by the second part of Five Foot Two, the strings no longer sound perfectly clean together. The playing experience was good, but honestly, in this price range I would expect at least a soft case to be included. Put another way, for roughly the same money — or at most a few thousand forints more — we can find soprano ukuleles supplied with both a case and a strap button.
