You could say this post is a case of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted, since 15 March was already a few weeks ago — incidentally, the day my third child was born — and I am only now publishing a post about this song, which is literally a “National Song” . What happened was that only a few days before 15 March I came up with a fingerstyle arrangement of Nemzeti dal, leaving no time to make a tutorial video and a blog post as well. Never mind: there will be another 15 March next year , and in any case this is such a fine little piece that it is enjoyable to hear — and play — at other times too.

A little over eleven years ago I published my previous post about this song, where I demonstrated thechord accompaniment. So it was time for a new arrangement in which the melody is also played on the ukulele:

Just as in the simple chord accompaniment, the same underlying chords naturally appear in the fingerstyle arrangement. The difference is that in fingerstyle we adjust the chord shapes slightly depending on the melody. The chords are:

Ukulele akkorddiagram: C Ukulele akkorddiagram: C7 Ukulele akkorddiagram: F Ukulele akkorddiagram: Fm6 Ukulele akkorddiagram: Dm Ukulele akkorddiagram: G

How do these chords change to accommodate the melody? In the video on the left I play the song, and in the one on the right I teach it to you. I hope you enjoy them.
