February Ukulele Course I — 2022
Yesterday, 6 February 2022, I woke to unusually pleasant weather. Despite the season it was not cold — not that I had had much snow to shovel this winter anyway . I quickly packed the ukuleles, laptop and projector into the car and headed to the Aranytíz Cultural Centre. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of Aranytíz here as well for their kind and conscientious help with the preparations.
Around 8:30 the ukulele players began arriving, and the room gradually filled up.
I think the day had a very good atmosphere, and I hope the participants felt the same. During the break our Keskeny Megálló ukulele duoeven had a short rehearsal . Erika joined us — she “pulled into Keskeny Megálló” — and the three of us played When the Saints. Many thanks to Viki for the recording.
The afternoon “chord duel” also seemed to be a great success. Shortly before the end of the course we put together one or two songs, and the chord changes were sounding really good. A message to every participant: practise a great deal with a slow metronome !
At the end of the course, thanks to D'Addario — one of the world's largest manufacturers of strings and accessories — we raffled off several ukulele accessories. A huge thank-you to D'Addario!
At the very end I still had that brutal amount of equipment to carry downstairs, and it meant a lot that you stood there, waited while I packed everything up, and then helped me carry it all down. An enormous thank-you !!!
Only a few more days and Course II is next — I am already looking forward to it !
Thanks to Gyuri for the photos below; you can also see some photographs I took myself:
