During the long months of lockdown I received a great many messages from people saying they wanted to attend the next ukulele course. As soon as restrictions began to be lifted, I immediately started organising new courses, and to my great delight enough beginner ukulele players signed up relatively quickly for Course I to go ahead. In fact, the minimum number for the Course II session on the following Sunday had already been reached long before. (I should add that I also started organising a ukulele meetup, but I could not find a suitable venue, so that event has been postponed until the end of the summer.)

On 13 June 2021 we woke to a beautiful sunny Sunday morning, and together with my fellow ukulele player Zita we set off early for the venueso that we would arrive in good time and could bring everything into the room. I would also like to thank her here for helping with carrying and setting things up. I had organised the course at a new venue, the Aranytíz Cultural Centre, which proved to be an excellent choice. A nicely furnished room was waiting for us, with plenty of space for everyone. The participants arrived too, so at exactly 9:00 a.m. we were able to begin by getting to know one another and getting acquainted with the ukulele.

The whole day had a really good atmosphere, and I hope the participants felt the same. A message to all of you who were there: practise a lot with a slow metronome !

At the end of the course, thanks to D'Addario — one of the world's largest manufacturers of strings and accessories — we raffled off several ukulele accessories. A huge thank-you to D'Addario!

And special thanks to the ukulele players who helped me pack up and carry my equipment downstairs after the course .

Only a few more days and Course II is next — I am already looking forward to it !
