Late-summer Ukulele Course I — report
After the June courses I received a steady stream of emails and Facebook messages asking about new course dates, so I did not waste any time: I organised Course I and Course II for 29 August and 5 September respectively courses.
Yesterday, 29 August 2021, greeted us with a cooler-than-usual but still pleasant morning. Together with two lovely ukulele players, Mónika and Zsolt, we set off for the venueso that we would arrive at the Aranytíz Cultural Centrein good time and could carry everything into the room. Thank you again to both of them for helping with the carrying and setup. I probably brought more equipment than ever before in all the time I have been running courses, because exceptionally I took all ten of my ukuleles with me, so there really was a huge amount to move. The participants arrived on time as well, and at exactly 9:00 a.m. we were able to begin by getting to know one another and the ukulele.
The day had a really good atmosphere, and I hope the participants felt the same. The afternoon “chord duel” also seemed to be a big success. Hats off to everyone: by the afternoon your chord changes sounded so good that you could have been a well-rehearsed band.
A message to every participant: practise a great deal with a slow metronome !
At the end of the course, thanks to D'Addario — one of the world's largest manufacturers of strings and accessories — we raffled off several ukulele accessories. A huge thank-you to D'Addario!
At the very end I still had that brutal amount of equipment to carry downstairs, and it meant a lot that you stood there, waited while I packed everything up, and then helped me carry it all down. An enormous thank-you !!!
Only a few more days and Course II is next — I am already looking forward to it !
