Imagine — our community production

To celebrate World Ukulele Day, our latest community production is finished. I published the call for participants a little over two weeks ago. World Ukulele Day itself will only be on 2 February, so I am posting the video slightly ahead of the occasion, but I hope you do not mind. I cannot thank my ukulele-playing friends enough for the videos they made and submitted, putting a great deal of time and energy into them. Over the past two weeks I opened my inbox with excitement each time, hoping another “Imagine” video might have arrived — and plenty did . I find it genuinely moving that you surprised me with such lovely recordings and played so well. It was a joy to listen to them.

Over the past two days I have spent a huge amount of time editing both sound and picture so the production could come together. This has been the largest “play together” project so far. If I close my eyes, I can still see audio and video tracks in front of me as I work through the material, and there were moments when even my computer was sweating while rendering the final video. Still, the effort was worth it for both human and machine . I will not say any more — here is the video. I hope you enjoy it.
