Armed with a ukulele, we can bravely head out onto the savannah - provided we first learn The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

Nothing beats an afternoon nap

This charming and simple song - according to Wikipedia - was originally written in Zulu in the 1920s, but it only spread around the world a few decades later and has since been covered countless times. It is one of those rare songs of which we can confidently say thattruly everyone knows it. For most people, the recording by Tight Fit from 1982 is probably the version that comes to mind (the music, not the video ).

The reason for this post is that I found an astonishing, sensational, unbelievably good recording of a flash mob on YouTube, which I also shared on the blog's Facebook page. There are some wonderful characters in the video: one person plays in a crash helmet, and almost every shot contains some interesting ukulele.

What struck me most is summed up perfectly by a Facebook comment: "It was a joy to watch! So many different ukuleles... so many happy people."

It would be wonderful to organize something similar in Hungary one day. For that we need YOU - those of you who already play the ukulele. Spread the word, promote the ukulele (or any other musical instrument!).

And we need YOU too, those of you who do not yet play the ukulele. Believe me: you can learn without any previous musical training. Even if you were not good at music at school or think you cannot "sing nicely". Those are merely bad assumptions, a kind of prejudice against yourselves. The joy of making music - especially together - is something you cannot understand until you experience it. It is simply a matter of deciding to do it and persevering.

So anyone who wants to feel safe on the savannah really should put a ukulele, rather than a submachine gun, into the violinukulele case and strum like this:

And for one picture we are turning into a cuteness blog, because I found this as well and simply have to share it with you:

Still small, but already extremely dangerous - everyone should be terrified!
