If you happened to skip the blog post about B major, please read it. At the beginning of that post I summarize the basic things you need to know about barre chords, so I will not repeat them here. B minor differs from B major in that you do not need to place your middle finger on the third fret of the third string. You place only your ring finger on the fourth fret of the fourth string, effectively skipping one fret — the third — where we do not fret anything. The barre remains on the second fret, while the ring finger stretches into position.

Some people prefer to use the middle finger there instead, but I recommend getting used to the ring finger. There are songs with major-minor changes, and in those cases all you have to do is put the middle finger down or lift it up. That makes switching between B major and B minor extremely simple. The latter chord is therefore:
