D7 is an interesting little chord for two reasons. First, we come across it quite often; second, close to the headstock there are two different ways to finger it, one of which is particularly unusual. In the video I show three fingerings in total. Two use a barre (2223 and 5655), while one does not (2020), and many people are unfamiliar with the last of these. Some players refer to the 2020 fingering as "Hawaiian D7" (I have no idea why), but it is a cute nickname anyway .

Of the left and middle fingerings, I recommend learning the one on the left. Later on it gives you much more freedom if two fingers — the middle and ring fingers — remain available while you hold the chord.
