Report on the ukulele course of 21 August 2022
To be honest, I did not expect so many of us at the course because many people are still on holiday at this time of year, enjoying the final days of summer. To my great delight, however, the room was almost full, and at 9:00 on 21 August 2022 we began the 12th ukulele course with 15 enthusiastic players.
In the morning Aliz, Beni and I set off from Budapest's District XVI, and when we arrived at Aranytíz, Mihály was already waiting for us. The four of us carried in all my equipment in no time (thanks for the help!). Meanwhile the others started arriving as well, and at exactly 9:00 we began the course. I could feel the participants' enthusiasm and energy, and it seemed to me—and I hope—that everyone enjoyed themselves. The morning passed incredibly quickly, then so did the lunch break and the afternoon hours. We played lots of chords, practised steady strumming and switching between the basic chords. At the end I had the feeling that we had only just started, yet the course was already over.
One participant, Csilla, brought a balalaika, which of course I tried during the break. It was a wonderful experience to look up a few balalaika chords and play the song beginning “There Stands a Young Birch Tree in the Meadow” on it. Thanks to Ildi, I also got to try a beautiful soprano-size electro-acoustic jazz ukulele.
At the end of the course, thanks to D'Addario—one of the world's largest manufacturers of strings and accessories—we raffled off a few ukulele accessories. Huge thanks to D'Addario!
Thank you for helping with packing up and carrying everything downstairs at the very end of the course !!!
We will meet again in a few days at Course II, which has meanwhile filled up completely, so applications are only possible if someone cancels .
Thanks to Erika and Ildi for the photos and videos (I took a few as well):
