Report on Course II in autumn 2023
Yesterday I woke to a cool morning and light drizzle, so I got a little wet by the time I had unloaded everything at the venue for Ukulele Course II. Once again, thanks to those who arrived early and helped; without you I could not have set up the room so quickly. We unusually began the course by playing a little and only introduced ourselves afterwards. Then we exercised the part of our brains responsible for rhythm and learned muting techniques. We also became acquainted with many chords, including barre shapes. For me, one of the highlights was the handful of songs we put together. Thanks to Erika for helping me with a little fingerstyle playing, and huge thanks as well to Csilla and Gyuri for the photos. My friend Gyuri also made some videos, so you can get a short taste of yesterday's fantastic atmosphere.
As always, I would like to tell my Students that what we discussed, played and practised during the course was a lot and quite intensive, but all of it will give you material to build on over the coming months. Just practise patiently, regularly—and of course as much as you can!
At the end of the course, thanks to D'Addario—one of the world's largest manufacturers of strings and accessories—we raffled off a few ukulele accessories. Huge thanks to D'Addario!
Enjoy the photos and the video!
