Lanikai MA-C Concert
After so many tenor and soprano ukuleles, I finally had the chance to test another concert-size instrument: the Lanikai MA-C, made from laminated mahogany. This is an entry-level Lanikai, yet while holding it, looking at it and playing it, I had the impression that Lanikai strives for very good quality and careful workmanship even in these models.
What was the first thing I noticed? That it is much, much more beautiful in person than in the photograph. In the picture it has a slightly gloomy dark-brown color and looks like a completely ordinary ukulele. In real life, however, it is a radiant, beautiful brown, and the wood grain is fantastic — it almost seems to move depending on the angle at which the light falls on it.
It is worth comparing these official photographs with the instrument in the video. The difference is huge, isn't it?
So much for appearance. What about the playing experience and sound? In short: good, I liked it. In more detail: it is a precise instrument, the chords are comfortable to finger, and we get the familiar Lanikai quality. This MA series is essentially the continuation of the old LU series, its slightly upgraded 2020 grandchild . And to see just how attractive it really is, take a look:
Naturally, this ukulele also comes from the factory with two strap buttons, and a case is included as well, although only a simple thin soft case. The value for money is excellent. It is slightly more expensive than entry-level concert ukuleles from some other brands, but in my opinion it is worth paying a little extra for this Lanikai.I regularly recommend this model to beginners.
