Egyszer egy királyfi — and a giveaway!
In the video below I would like to teach you a ukulele arrangement of a sung fairy tale. The story itself continues for many, many “verses”, or sections. Memorizing the text is almost an impossible mission for me , but the chord accompaniment is much simpler, and the bright, chiming sound of the ukulele suits it beautifully .
Before you start watching the video, I am happy to mention—and I also say a few words about it in the video—that the Hungaria Ukulele Blog turned 15 a few days ago, on 30 December 2025 to be exact. To mark the occasion, I am organizing a giveaway in which I would like to give away a few ukulele accessories: a set of strings, a tuner and a strap (all factory-new, of course). As I have never organized a giveaway before, to be honest I am not entirely sure what rules I should set, nor do I know how much interest it will generate. I suggest we give it a try; I hope many of you will take part, and next time we organize one we will all be more experienced .
So:
- Professional performers may not participate (meaning people who perform occasionally or regularly as ukulele players, or who have formal musical qualifications).
- To participate, you need to make a ukulele video.
- In the video you must arrange / perform a song for which I have made a video in the blog's “Song arrangements” category (naturally you do not have to play it exactly as I do—you may arrange it however you like), or which appears in the list under “Downloads”. It may be chord accompaniment + singing, or fingerstyle.
- The video must be newly recorded after the publication of this post. It should contain a very short introduction, and I also ask you to say that the video was made for the ukulele.hu giveaway.
- I would like to publish the submitted videos in a new blog post, so participants will also have the opportunity to show their skills to the wider public. Put another way, by entering you also need to agree to your video being made public. I cannot promise with absolute certainty that every submitted video will be included in the blog post.
- Upload the video to YouTube or another platform from which I can embed it directly in the blog post, so please do not share it with me via Google Drive (or another file-transfer service).
- Please also tell me which prize you would prefer: a set of strings, a strap or a tuner.
Deadline: 28 February 2026.
I hope I have inspired you to take part and that you will flood me with your videos.
But before you get started, let us return to the prince's adventures. I warmly recommend the video below, in which I show the Hungarian sung tale “Egyszer egy királyfi” in three different keys, both with chord accompaniment and as a fingerstyle arrangement. Here I only write out the chords in C major; everything else is in the video.
