He is not exactly a performer brought up on health food, but then those notes coming from the kissable lips of Mr Green — born Thomas DeCarlo Callaway — do need a certain amount of weight behind them. I do not usually attach much importance to a song's music video, but this one turned out particularly well: a little retro flavour and a charming story. Here is the censored version. People are certainly not stingy with the clicks — or listens — either: at the moment the video is approaching 20 million views.

Hand on heart: who understood every word of the lyrics the first time they heard it? In any case, I was astonished when I first read that both Atari and XBOX are mentioned in the song...

I will show the ukulele accompaniment. Played on its own it sounds rather thin, and unfortunately I have once again managed to choose a song that is not exactly easy to sing in the shower — or anywhere else. Still, it is an excellent piece for practising chord shapes in different positions and learning how to put the thumb to useful work while strumming. (Sorry, the uncensored version is playing underneath the video.)

Chords: C major, D7 and F major for about 90% of the song. Simple, isn't it? Who would have thought. Forget You is a classic example of a song that remains anything but boring despite a fairly simple chord progression. Superb singing, excellent backing vocals, an exceptionally full sound and varied accompaniment give it energy and make it hard to tire of. That is the short version; I talk quite enough in the second half of the video anyway .
