For some time I have been putting a Moulin Baton Rouge V1-S Royal soprano ukulele through its paces. The brand is relatively new in Hungary — at least I had not encountered it here before. Although I generally prefer Lanikai and Kala, I have also grown fond of the Baton Rouge I tested.

I will not produce a test and description as thorough as those by our blogger István; instead, in the video below I give my first impressions and strum the instrument a little. Its volume is surprisingly high for a soprano. Horrible as it is to admit, I think it may even be louder than my own concert-size koa ukulele . The fretboard has no position-marker dots; they appear only on the side of the neck. Their absence is not terribly annoying — and dots can even be added later — but for beginners it is still useful to have those markers directly on the fretboard as well.

I also play my arrangement of the music from Kincs, ami nincs on this ukulele. I recommend the post!
