A Flemish folk song (lullaby)
I would like to teach you a very sweet lullaby, the Flemish folk song beginning "Szép gyermekem..." (“My beautiful child...”). Before we get to the song itself, I warmly recommend the Ringató – Lila könyv (“Purple Book”), where you can find the sheet music and lyrics of this and many other valuable songs for young children. I also say a few words about the book in the video, and I show the song in several ways: singing with ukulele accompaniment (chordal accompaniment) and fingerstyle.
This video is special because it appears not only here on the Hungaria Ukulele Blog, but also on the Ringató website. One of my clear aims is to encourage parents who attend Ringató sessions to enjoy learning music and playing the ukulele, and to show that with a little practice the songs in Ringató publications can be accompanied or played beautifully on the ukulele.
As this is a lullaby, play it at a calm, slow tempo and do not forget the 6/8 pulse. Enjoy the video, followed by the original Hungarian lyrics with chords:
[C]Kicsi az idei [F]bárány, [G]patyolat a tej a [C]száján,
