With a pick or without?

One of the eternal—almost religious—questions among ukulele players is whether you are “allowed” to use a pick. In the video below I explore the subject a little, but if you do not want to watch it, I will give away the answer: yes, you are. Who could forbid it ? Of course, it is another matter what each player prefers, what they are used to, or what a particular song requires. Personally, I almost never play with a pick. Since the ukulele is traditionally played with the fingers, I focused on learning fingerstyle and finger-strumming techniques and continue trying to improve them. But that does not mean we cannot use a pick—in fact I encourage everyone to try one. So much so that one of my future goals is to practise with a pick more often myself .
